A.M. Johnson’s Kingdom – The Little Fairytale in All of Us.

Kelly is a woman who decided long ago she wasn’t going to allow her past to handcuff her future. She knows her only way is to get out of her small town is to use her natural beauty to attain something more than the life she was born into. Liam is a man who is loyal to his family. He’s been the man of the house from a young age. His shoulders harness the pressures of everyone around him and he needs to breathe but there is no time. His devotion also opens him up to a heartache of the worst kind. With Kelly in need of leaving and Liam’s loyalty, the two seem destined to destroy one another. However, sometimes fate holds the strongest hand of all.

In true A. M. Johnson style she unfolds a love story which is not without epic walls and deep-seated emotion. Johnson’s Kingdom magically weaves the past with the present in a clever integration of perspective change from first to third and this stylistic choice sets Kingdom apart from most traditional novels. The running trope of a fairy tale turned real life drama also propels Kingdom up unto a pedestal of its own. Johnson’s twist in craft and style is one not to be overlooked. Kelly and Liam’s story is a deep-rooted love prose which is well worth the read.

Kelly Kavanagh was Liam’s happily ever after, his loyal princess. A lifeline to something better than any high school dropout could ever hope for…until the day she left to pursue a dream that didn’t include him and slowly his kingdom crumbled to the ground.

Liam O’Connell was the sun to Kelly’s everlasting moon, her painted prince. A strong and devoted soul to fight the war she was slowly losing against herself…until his promises had become lies and her dream was the only way she would ever survive.

They have more than just miles and time between them now. The twin fortresses they’ve built around their hearts are next to impossible to scale. But, when two parallel fates collide in life and in death, will the impact be powerful enough to break down their self-imposed walls?

Every love story starts with Once Upon a Time, but in real life there are no fairytale endings, and the prince who rescues you…will never wear a crown.

L.J. Shen – Ruckus: Sinners of Saints- #2

Rosie lives life to its fullest, but she knows the Grim Reaper nips at her heels. She’s a dreamer motivated by the gift of giving and doesn’t buy into the wicked ways of money and excess. She isn’t without her own kryptonite, but he’s off-limits. She’s built her walls and isn’t going to let him in to destroy her again.

Dean “Ruckus” Cole’s had his eye on the prize for years. Despite his riches and over indulgences, he’s still lurking in the shadows ready to pounce and take what’s his. She doesn’t know it, but he’s got her conquered and no is something he brushes aside when it comes to her.

In true L. J. Shen fashion, she writes the tale of the anti-hero and he comes out smelling like a rose. In Ruckus, Shen shows the good, the bad, and the ugly of Dean Cole and his rise to financial success. His life appears perfect in the eyes of his Hot Holes, but Shen shows the darker side of secrets and lies told to keep a young boy on a pedestal, yet every secret has its evil unveiling. Shen also builds an inner strength in Rosie through her difficult road dealing with her terminal illness. She is a heroine with a true ticking time bomb. The chemistry built between Ruckus and Rosie through dynamic characterization and the conflicts, which sucker punch these two characters, are well designed and keep the reader on their edge of their seat. Shen brilliantly handles Rosie and creates a beautifully well-told prose and only adds to the love every reader has for the original Hot Holes gang.

Celia Aaron – The Bad Guy

Sebastian Lindstrom lives his life in a black and white manner. Gray is not a place his brain comprehends. Some say he’s on the spectrum, others simply believe he’s a psychopath with little leeway for the common ground.

Camille Briarlane is a sweet, smart, science teacher. Her love of science is a passion she conveys to her students and keeps her hypothesizing about changing the world one plant at a time. Her compassionate side attributes to the kindheartedness she displays to students, friends, and her boyfriend. However, underneath ever cookie cutter perfect person lies the need to be a little selfish, maybe even a little naughty.

Celia Aaron, the queen of the dark romance certainly wows her fans with The Bad Guy. Aaron’s character development of Sebastian Lindstrom as the anti-hero, Camille Briarlane as the fair maiden, and Link as the hero is only the beginning of the twists and turns Aaron creates through her amazing stylistic skills. Aaron’s ability in creating anti-heroes the audience falls in love with and fallen heroes who readers loathe by the end is a true tribute to her talents. Her heroines also stand up to the prose audience through the dynamic character development and strength Aaron conjures up for these bright women she molds together. In true Aaron fashion, The Bad Guy travels down the road less taken and turns out to be sprinkled with a touch of nice and a smattering of naughty in all the right places. As always Celia Aaron delivers the reads her audience craves and The Bad Guy is one more to check off your TBR!

BLURB

My name is Sebastian Lindstrom, and I’m the villain of this story.
I’ve decided to lay myself bare. To tell the truth for once in my hollow life, no matter how dark it gets. And I can assure you, it will get so dark that you’ll find yourself feeling around the blackened corners of my mind, seeking a door handle that isn’t there.
Don’t mistake this for a confession. I neither seek forgiveness nor would I accept it. My sins are my own. They keep me company. Instead, this is the true tale of how I found her, how I stole her, and how I lost her.
She was a damsel, one who already had her white knight. But every fairy tale has a villain, someone waiting in the wings to rip it all down. A scoundrel who will set the world on fire if that means he gets what he wants. That’s me.
I’m the bad guy.

BT Urruela – Thirty Days: Part Two

Nerdy Novelist’s REVIEW:

The second installment of Gavin Mazzerelli’s swipe dating adventure continues as BT Urruela truly hits the mark with Thirty Days: Part Two. Gavin struggles with depression opening up some self-destructive coping methods. He’s been working on restructuring his mental game and learning to appreciate life again. His good friend Bobby challenges him to thirty days of swipe dating to get him back out and enjoying life again. The struggling writer is desperate for money and inspiration making this a win-win for him. What he doesn’t filter into the equation is he might actually meet someone he wants to explore further. This is where the heart and head of Gavin begin to separate and he digs deep into what he wants versus what he needs. Unfortunately, he may just be too late in figuring himself out before the bubble bursts.

BT Urruela sprinkles a plethora of allusionary references, humor, wit, and realism throughout Thirty Days: Part Two that the story simply unfolds without a hitch. He also is the master of twists of fate and Catch 22’s. His juxtaposition between Sami and Megan is well plotted and only helps to perpetuate the dynamic development of Gavin through his mental journal back into writing and life itself. Gavin is demonstrating change over time, slowly climbing his way to change but in Urruela style he makes ever gain painstakingly tough and well earned along the way. While this is a cliffhanger, just like part one, Urruela leaves his readers thirsty for the final installment.

***Please note this is book two and is not a standalone.
